If you are looking for a position with a stable, successful company, we are seeking a Construction Estimator/Purchaser familiar with residential homebuilding experience to join our team.
As a member of the Lubke Estimating and Purchasing team, your duties include:
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, prepare project specific scopes of work and request vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Review proposals, drawings, and sites to reduce/eliminate scope gap.
- Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to bids for projects assigned for budget adherence.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures. Interface with vendor and subcontractors regarding project budgets and feasibility.
- Follow all assigned projects to completion - including assisting in original project estimates, compiling estimates for added scopes, and identifying and preparing change orders.
- Creation of purchase orders from field team requests for materials and labor in accordance with purchasing schedule.
- Procure materials, manage lead-times, and track deliveries, returns and exchanges.
- Cultivate relationships with competent, reliable subcontractors and vendors to assist with competitive pricing.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.
- General knowledge of construction disciplines is required.
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and value engineering.
- Ability to solve practical problems and manage variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook, proficiency in Planswift, Buildertrend and Bluebeam.
- Ability to bend, lift, move general inventory items in a warehouse setting.
Required Experience and Education We welcome candidates with a combination of education and relevant experience. While a degree in construction management or engineering is beneficial, equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
